Process
I’ve completed hundreds of projects over the course of my career, each with the belief that proper planning leads to better execution. Every project begins with a discovery phase so I can learn more about your target market and make sure the site or application meets your needs. Once the design is complete, the final project is coded in a manner that is easy to maintain and hassle-free.
Initial Consultation
In this important phase of discovery, I’ll ask a series of questions to evaluate the direction of your site, examine analytics data for your current site, and identify your competitors interactive strategy.
- Identify areas of improvement
- Determine target market
- Competitive Analysis
- Written Proposal and Recommendations
Research, Inspiration, & Design
Copying a competitor’s design does nothing to differentiate your business. In order to create something truly unique, I pair your input with my own research using various sources of inspiration that I have cataloged over the years. In addition to gaining inspiration from current design trends, I also look at other forms of art such as photography, illustrations, and painting that are appropriate for your brand.
- Research art and current web trends
- Create design concept(s)
Site Build
As a result of the research phase, I’ll create a visual proof of your website for your approval. Once the design concept is approved in writing, I build your website using the methods that were agreed upon from the written proposal.
- HTML or xHTML
- CSS 2.1 & 3
- JavaScript
- Server-side coding
- CMS or E-commerce integration.
Testing & Launch
Once the testing has been completed, you are ready to launch your site. I’ll upload the code and image files to your web server, create the databases if necessary, and give you a zip file for safe keeping.
